I am a practitioner of ecological restoration with boundless curiosity for the natural world.
After working in a variety of non-profit, for-profit and government settings, I understand that there are countless components to the complexity involved in ecological restoration. One of the most important elements in this profession is communicating what we do to other practitioners as well as folks outside the field. I want to encourage that conversation and that is why I’ve created Midwestoration.
Why “Midwest”oration?
The Midwest is the literal birthplace of ecological restoration! In the United States, we’ve been preserving land for a long time, but we’ve been converting, degrading and destroying it for even longer. Ecological restoration is a fairly new practice that started with visionaries like Aldo Leopold in the Midwest in the early 1900s. Today, there are countless restoration projects throughout the Midwest that are addressing challenges as diverse as the natural areas in this region.
